NFL Labor Issues - Negotiating a New NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement

From , former About.com Guide

What the Owners Want

-- A larger portion of revenues taken off the top before the players get their percentage, which likely would result in the players receiving a smaller total dollar amount unless the league is able to grow overall revenue significantly

-- An expansion of the current NFL schedule from 16 to 18 games

-- A rookie wage scale that would limit the contracts of players coming into the league

What the Players Want

-- The owners to open their books and prove the hardship they claim before agreeing to any concession that potentially cuts income

-- Salaries increased on a prorated basis if the schedule is expanded to 18 games

-- Fewer off-season requirements if the season is expanded

Where It Stands

Negotiations are ongoing at this time, with little movement being reported by either side.
