Michael Floyd Measurables:

Position: Wide Receiver
School: Notre Dame
Year: Junior
Height: 6-3
Weight: 220
40-Yard Dash:

Strengths:

  • Great size and strength with decent speed
  • Runs nice crisp routes
  • Has the toughness to go across the middle and make catches in traffic
  • Good hands, consistently catches the ball away from his body
  • Has long arms
  • Goes up to get the ball at the highest point possible
  • Adjusts well to the ball in the air
  • Tremendous deep threat who can play either outside or in the slot
  • Plays well against both press coverage and zone
  • Good down-field blocker

Weaknesses:

  • Missed time with injuries every season at Notre Dame, so durability is a concern
  • Despite having good top-end speed, he doesn't have an explosive burst off the line

Bottom Line on Michael Floyd:

Michael Floyd is a good all-around receiver with the physical makeup to be a solid NFL receiver. Injury concerns may hurt him a little on draft day, but he will still be highly coveted. He spent most of his junior year in a spread offense, but did play his first two seasons in a pro-style offense, so his transition to the NFL should be fairly smooth.

Projection: A legitimate No. 1 receiving prospect, Floyd should be selected somewhere in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft should he decide to leave school a year early.
