| John Stallworth: Pro Football Hall of Fame Wide Receiver | |
Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver John Stallworth attended Alabama A&M University and became the Bulldogs' all-time leading receiver. He was taken in the fourth round of the 1974 NFL draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played 14 seasons, twice being named the team's Most Valuable Player. His career numbers include 537 receptions for 8,723 yards and 63 touchdowns.
Stallworth played in eight conference championship games and four Super Bowls (IX, X, XIII, and XIV), winning all four. He is the ninth member of the Steelers teams that won those four Super Bowls to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he was also inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1989. In 1982 he was named to the All-Time Steelers' Team.
A 67-game pass receiving streak from 1977-1982 documents the consistency he displayed while a member of the Steelers, but he will always be best remembered for scoring the winning touchdown on a 73-yard reception in Super Bowl XIV.
