Best Known For:

Gale Sayers is best known for being an elusive running back for the Chicago Bears whose career was cut short by knee injuries. He was also one of the most electrifying return men in NFL history.

Best Season:

Gale Sayers, also known as the Kansas Rocket, burst onto the NFL scene in 1965 with 22 touchdowns to set a rookie record. But perhaps his best season statistically was in 1966 when he ran for 1,231 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games. He also averaged 5.2 yards per carry and added 447 yards receiving.
