About Football's Featured NFL Mock Draft IV

Round 2

From Forum Member Hujo69, About.com Guest

33) San Francisco 49ers – Marlin Jackson CB from Michigan. Provides depth/insurance for Ahmed Plummer, who missed almost all of last season with a bulging disc in his neck.

34) Cleveland Browns – Charlie Frye QB Akron. Frye was the best QB in the college all-star game. Can sit behind Trent Dilfer for a year or two and learn before being asked to contribute.

35) Philadelphia Eagles – Odell Thurman LB from Georgia. A very fine athlete who has had trouble with the law and with his coaches. Can play both ILB and OLB.

36) Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Kevin Burnett OLB from Tennessee. A great pass rusher off the edge. Should benefit a great deal by learning from Derrick Brooks.

37) Tennessee Titans – Reggie Brown WR Georgia. Tennessee is in desperate need of a WR and Reggie Brown has all the tools to contribute right away.

38) Oakland Raiders – Darryl Blackstock OLB from Virginia. A high-energy guy who fill a great need for the Raiders.

39) Chicago Bears – Terrance Murphy WR from Texas A&M. A big-play receiver to help compliment the newly added Mushin Muhammed.

40) New Orleans Saints – Ernest Shazor S Michigan. They have Dwight Smith and Jay Bellamy, but Shazor is a big, hard-hitting guy in the mold of Sean Taylor and Roy Williams. He’ll provide an intimidating presence to the Saints secondary.

41) Detroit Lions – Alex Smith TE from Stanford. A nice combination of blocker and pass catching ability.

42) Dallas Cowboys – Josh Bullocks S from Nebraska. A ball-hawking type of safety will be a good compliment to Roy Williams.

43) New York Giants – Ciatrick Fason RB from Florida. A good backup to Tiki Barber and could turn into a star in the future.

44) Arizona Cardinals – Brandon Browner CB Oregon St. Arizona needs help at CB and Browner is the best prospect still available.

45) Carolina Panthers – Anttaj Hawthorne DT Wisconsin. The future replacement for Brentson Buckner. Hurt his draft status with a poor combine, but was a very productive college player.

46) Kansas City Chiefs – Chris Canty DE Virginia. Another defensive hole filled by the Chiefs. Canty has great size (6’7” 290 lbs.) but needs to stay healthy (and out of bar fights) to be effective.

47) Houston Texans – Mike Patterson NT from USC. Should help provide depth to the aging Texans D-line. Lack of height shouldn’t be a factor as a NT.

48) Cincinnati Bengals - Luis Castillo DT from Northwestern. He fought through a variety of injuries in college, but is athletic and big enough to play either NT or DE. His stock seemed to be soaring until recent admissions of steroid use.
