About Football's Featured NFL Mock Draft IV

Round 2 (pg 2)

From Forum Member Hujo69, for About.com

49) Minnesota Vikings – Marcus Johnson OG Mississippi. A behemoth of a man at 6’6” 330 lbs. he has the size to play OT, but his lack of speed makes him a better guard prospect.

50) St Louis Rams – Fred Gibson WR Georgia. If the Rams don’t get a WR in round 1 – you can bet they’ll get one here. His size and speed will make it easy for some team to forget about him selling his SEC championship ring.

51) Green Bay Packers – Jonathon Babineaux DT from Iowa. Is a tad small for a DT, but has great burst and closing speed.

52) Jacksonville Jaguars – JJ Arrington RB California. Somewhat a surprise pick here because the Jaguars spent a 2nd round pick on Greg Jones last year. But Jones hasn’t recovered from his knee injury he suffered while in college, and Jacksonville still needs a back-up/future replacement for Fred Taylor. Arrington surprised scouts at the combine with his size and speed, and is a big-play waiting to happen.

53) Baltimore Ravens – Eric Green CB Virginia Tech. More help for the league’s best defense. Green has great instincts and won’t be forced into action for Baltimore. Should be a great special teams player and nickel back.

54) Seattle Seahawks – Chris Spencer C from Miss. Would have most likely been a sure-fire first rounder if he’d have returned for his senior year. Has great upside, but will need a year or two to refine his skills before he’ll be starter material.

55) Buffalo Bills – Atiyyah Ellison DT Missouri. Fills a need for Buffalo and Ellison has the size and speed to become a solid player for the Bills.

56) Denver Broncos – Dan Cody DE/OLB Oklahoma. A superb athlete and a great leader who drops on draft day because of his size. He’s a guy stuck without a natural position. Too small for DE and too slow for OLB, although that’s probably what he’ll be asked to play for Denver as they switch to 3-4.

57) New York Jets – Fabian Washington CB Nebraska. CB is a huge need for the Jets and Washington is a speed burner (ran a 4.25 at the combine) who can run with any WR in the league. Will struggle against the run though.

58) Green Bay Packers – Jason Campbell QB Auburn. He’s a top 20 prospect on most boards and will be too tough for the Pack to pass on here. Has superstar potential and will be able to sit and learn for a year or two behind Brett Favre.

59) Atlanta Falcons – Chris Colmer OT NC State. A big powerful blocker with a mean streak. Missed the 2003 season due to a nerve disease, but should turn into a top-notch OT in a couple years. Won’t be asked to play much his rookie year.

60) Indianapolis Colts – Barrett Rudd LB Nebraska. Makes up for his small stature with all-out effort and on-field intelligence. Has been compared to Zack Thomas.

61) San Diego – Bryant McFadden CB FSU. A solid – if not spectacular – cover guy. Will help the Chargers secondary in the suddenly pass happy AFC West.

62) Pittsburgh Steelers – Craphonso Thorpe WR FSU. He’s a big-play threat that should be fully recovered from a broken leg suffered in 2003.

63) Philadelphia Eagles -Kay-Jay Harris RB W Virginia. A big, physical runner who will be the perfect change of pace guy to Brain Westbrook. Has the potential to turn into a star, but will have to do it quickly as he will turn 26 before the start of the season.

64) New England Patriots – Chris Henry WR from W. Virginia. One of the most talented WRs in the draft, but his stock has fallen due to immaturity and character issues. He has the size (6’4” 200 lbs.) and athletic ability to be a force, but must learn to control his emotions.
