Round 1: Picks 1-11

1. San Francisco 49ers - Aaron Rodgers, QB Cal (6'3 - 220 - 4.7)
Rattay is decent QB, but nothing more than a good back up. Dorsey is a long term project and 49ers need something now to spark the team and ticket sales badly. Rodgers is a bay area product who grew up wanting to be Joe Montana. This sounds like a great match and the PR department will have a field day with this. And don't let previous Tedford players fool you. Rodgers is the best QB Tedford has produced and the best technical QB he has brought up. Don't let the game against Texas Tech fool you. He has no starting receivers and his favorite TE was out also. Even though the new head coach Mike Nolan was a defensive coordinator, you can't pass on a franchise QB. That’s something the 49ers havn't had since the retirement of Steve Young.

2. Miami Dolphins - Cedric Benson, RB Texas (6'0 - 220 - 4.5)
While AJ Feeley isn't a great QB, they also lack a running game with the bizarre departure of Ricky Williams. Benson is basically a smaller version of Williams. This will help to free up Feeley and maybe even save his job.

3. Cleveland Browns - Alex Smith, QB Utah (6'4 - 215 - 4.7)
The Browns should be looking for a left tackle, but at this spot there isn't a tackle worth taking. Also with Crennel at the helm, he could be looking for a defensive player, but they also lack a QB to lead them. Smith brings text book style and proved that he can be a good QB. He is a young kid who is very smart and learns fast. While a lot of Browns fans might not agree, I don't think the Browns will pass away from a franchise QB.

4. Chicago Bears - Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan (6'3 - 210 - 4.4)
Boooooo...another Michigan WR. That might be the case, but they need a receiver badly. I mean BAD! Edwards has made himself into the top receiver coming out in the draft. He is a physical receiver who is the most well rounded receiver coming out. This will help out with Grossman. I don't think he will be like Terrell and just flop. Expect Edwards to make some noise in his rookie year.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Mike Williams, WR USC (6'5 - 230 - 4.5)
Clayton needs another WR complement him and they need another play maker in that department. Last year the Bucs were very interested in Williams and with a good combine, he could even be the first WR drafted. They could also go with Cadillac, but I believe Pittman is still serviceable and not a huge priority need. Williams is a good possession receiver with good hands. This will make the life of the Bucs' QB a lot easier… whoever that might be.

6. Tennessee Titans - Antrel Rolle, CB Miami (6'1 - 205 - 4.4)
The Titans are in absolute salary cap hell. Expect Samari Rolle to be cut and a lot more people like Hopkins. At this point they could be looking at a OL, but Antrel Rolle will be the replacement CB for the other Rolle.

7. Oakland Raiders - Shawne Merriman, DE/OLB Maryland (6'4 - 250 - 4.6)
Surprise reach pick of the draft. While a RB should be addressed, I expect Al to look at free agency for that as usual. Merriman has great physical attributes and that's something Al covets. This isn't the first time Al has drafted people really high just because of their physical abilities. Well, then again, most of the Al Davis first rounders are drafted just for that. The Raiders are in dire need of a pass rusher and Merriman might fall under that need. While Al doesn't draft LBs this high, Merriman is a LEO DE which is a hybrid DE/OLB. I wouldn't be surprise by this pick neither should anyone with Al Davis' history for taking a shot at an athlete this high.

8. Arizona Cardinals - Cadillac Williams, RB Auburn (5'11 - 205 - 4.5)
The Cardinals are in dire need of a RB. Shipp is coming back from a back injury and Hambone is well..useless. Williams brings the playmaking ability in rushing and as a PR man. With Williams, Cardinals might be one of the most explosive offenses out there.

9. Washington Redskins - Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin (6'4 - 260 - 4.7)
James is a sack specialist that the Redskins have been looking for. With the addition of James, this might make Washington's already dominant defense more potent. While a WR should be looked at, no one is still available who can command the #9 spot.

10. Detroit Lions - Thomas Davis, FS/SS/OLB Georgia (6'1 - 230 - 4.5)
Brock Marion is getting old and Brian Walker needs to be replaced. Davis is incredibly athletic and gifted. He falls under the mold of a Roy Williams hard-hitting safety. Davis will bring the hard hitting highlight reel to that defensive backfield.

11. Dallas Cowboys - Derrick Johnson, OLB Texas (6'3 - 235 - 4.5)
Parcell loves big linebackers. He basically just loves playmaking linebackers. With Johnson's stock slipping, Parcell jumps at the chance to nab him. He brings a lot of range and speed to that spot. This will definitely help out with that defense and make lives a bit easier.
