Round 1

17. Cincinnati - Travis Johnson, DT Florida State
The Bengals offense looks to be set, so Marvin Lewis decides to go defense in the first round and gets the dominant defensive tackle he wants in Johnson. With Lewis coaching him, he could become a very good pro in a short amount of time.

18. Minnesota – Brodney Pool, S Oklahoma
After helping their DE/LB positions with Merriman at No. 7, the Vikes help the defensive backs with one of the top safeties in Pool. With all the additions, the Viking defense should improve a lot.

19. St. Louis – Alex Barron, OT Florida State
With Kyle Turley being shown the door, the Rams need an offensive tackle to protect Bulger because he becomes very shaky when under pressure. The last thing the Rams need is a QB who can’t compose himself enough to run that offense, so Barron is a must.

20. Dallas (from Buffalo) – Troy Williamson, WR South Carolina
Williamson gives the Cowboys a young wide receiver to replace Johnson or Glenn in a few years, and as a bonus he has the speed to stretch the field.

21. Jacksonville – Matt Roth, DE Iowa
As a defensive team, the Jaguars’ biggest weakness was defensive end until they signed Reggie Hayward, and they may also take the best available one in the hopes that it will make what was an area of weakness an area of strength next season.

22. Baltimore – Mark Clayton, WR OU
Even with the signing of Derrick Mason, the Ravens are in need of wide receivers to stop their offense from being one dimensional. They may look at Carlos Rogers now that they have lost Baxter at cornerback, but wide receiver seems to be a bigger need right now.

23. Seattle – Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn
After an awful 2004 showing, the Seahawks look to be in the process of trying to make big changes to their defense with the releases/losses of Lucas & Simmons. So they try to fill one of the holes created with Rogers.

24. Green Bay – David Baas, OG Michigan
With the loss of both starting guards in free agency, the Packers need to find ways to plug those holes because their offensive line was an area of strength for them. And without a strong line things may start to fall apart for them.
