About Football's Featured 2005 NFL Mock Draft III

Round 1

1. San Francisco 49ers - Aaron Rodgers, QB California
He was lights out in his workout, completing something like 91-of-92 passes. He was just as fast as Smith at the combine, and he answered his biggest question: height (6'1 3/4"). His arm is better than Smith's, and besides, the Niners are pimping him like Joe Montana.

2. Miami Dolphins - Ronnie Brown, RB Auburn
Everyone else is picking this, and I am not going to deviate. He catches passes better than any of the other backs, he is strong, and he runs a mid 4.4 40. He's going to be a really good back.

3. Cleveland Browns - Alex Smith, QB Utah
Crennel and his Browns’ goons keep saying they are not going to take a QB, which is exactly why I think they are. The only coach in this league who is dumb enough to tell everyone who he wants is Mike Tice. Smith could be as good or better than Rodgers, and Dilfer is not the Browns' QB of the future. They tried it last year, going with an old QB, and it failed miserably. I think that everyone sees what happened last year (whether they were in the organization or not), and they won't do it again.

4. Chicago Bears - Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan
They will get the power back they want somewhere else (trade for James, Garner, etc.), because they know that after Brown, they don't want to spend the #4 pick on Benson or Williams. Edwards is possibly the most talented player in the draft, and they will have successfully surrounded Grossman with the weapons he needs to pick up here he left off before hurting his knee last year... but I still think they're lucky to get him at #4.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Cedric Benson, RB Texas
I keep hearing that they "guaranteed" Mike Williams they'd pick him, and that Gruden just LOVES Cadillac, but I just can't see them not taking Benson. They can pound the ball with him, he doesn't spend half his time in jail (ahem, Michael Pittman), and he's not as much like Ricky Williams as people say. He just went to his school and has dreads. And I know his workout was sub-par, but that doesn't take away his four 1,000 yd seasons.

6. Tennessee Titans - Adam Jones, CB West Virginia
They HAVE to. It's either him or Antrel Rolle, and I just think it'll be Jones. But losing Samari Rolle and probably losing Dyson means this is the only position they can draft, period (i think).

7. Minnesota Vikings - Mike Williams, WR USC
I think the guy the Vikings want falls to them even though I think they should take Derrick Johnson. But, as Tice wipes the drool from his mouth, he hands the card to the podium runner and the commish announces Williams. Too bad, the Vikings take another guy who will be good when they could've had someone who will be great.

8. Arizona Cardinals - Cadillac Williams, RB Auburn
No-brainer. I think they have a list of five guys they should/would take. Cadillac is the fifth, but they'll take him.
