Strengths:
Although they lost Terrell Owens for most of the playoffs (possibly all), quarterback Donovan McNabb and running back Michael Westbrook have the talent to shoulder the load on offense. McNabb is a tremendous leader who has improved his accuracy and still has the mobility to buy time for his receivers. Look for Westbrook to be used more in the passing game with Owens sidelined.

On defense, the Eagles have one of the better secondaries in the league, which allows them to be more aggressive in attacking the quarterback. The Eagles defensive line is suddenly becoming healthy as well, with the return of defensive tackle Hollis Thomas, who was out the final three games of the season with an elbow injury, and defensive end Derrick Burgess, who is also scheduled to return after missing the last four games.

Weaknesses:

The loss of Owens has created a lot of concerns for the passing game. WR Freddie Mitchell has been effective out of the slot, but now he is forced back to the outside where he will face better coverage. Second-year player Greg Lewis will line up in the slot, which gives McNabb less experience to work with across the middle.
The Eagles running game also relies heavily on spreading the field with three-receiver sets, so if Mitchell and Lewis are not effective filling different roles, not only will the passing game suffer, but the running game could be bottled up as well. Philadelphia might also experiment with Westbrook in the slot and Dorsey Levens taking over in the backfield at times.

Overview:

With a healthy Terrell Owens, the Eagles were clearly the class of the NFC. Without him, they've slipped back to the pack somewhat. However, they are probably still the favorite to represent the NFC in Super Bowl XXXIX, especially with a home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The NFC playoffs appear wide open this year and the Eagles have as good a chance of getting past the NFC Championship game this year as any of their competition. But they can't afford to take any of the remaining NFC Playoff field lightly or they might find themselves packing for the offseason prematurely.
