Elvis Dumervil

From Dane Brugler, for About.com

Position: Defensive End

School: Louisville

Status: Senior

Height: 6-0

Weight: 255

40-Yard Dash:

Positives:

A very productive defensive playmaker, Elvis Dumervil really began to wow scouts with an impressive senior campaign. An exceptional pass rusher, he has great speed to beat blocks on the offensive line. Dumervil is a sack machine as he broke many Division I records for his high sack totals. He is relentless when rushing the quarterback and uses his long arms to get past blocks.

Negatives:

Dumervil lacks ideal size as he is only six feet tall. He played in a weak Big East conference and wasn’t challenged by many of the tougher offensive lines in other conferences such as the ACC or SEC. Dumervil will be criticized by scouts at the next level because of his small stature and lack of true experience.

Overview:

Dumervil is a poor man’s Dwight Freeney as he lacks true size and strength to match up at the next level, but possess very good closing speed and is quick off the snap. Dumervil's draft status might drop because of his size and he might even consider making the transition to pass rush linebacker, ideal in a 3-4 defense. He has the heart of a champion and plays with 100% energy every play.
