Michael Huff

From Matt Malott, for About.com

Positional Rankings: QB RB FB WR TE OT OG C - DE DT ILB OLB S CB - K P

Position: Defensive Back

School: Texas

Status: Senior

Height: 6-1

Weight: 205

40-Yard Dash: 4.55 (EST)

Positives:

Michael Huff is a very athletic defensive back, who can play both corner and safety. He has excellent speed to go along with good hip movement which allows him to run with receivers and make plays on the ball. He's very smart player who recognizes routes. His athleticism and smarts make him a ballhawk, and he has a tendency to return interceptions for touchdowns.

Negatives:

Once in awhile he'll tend to gamble and try to make a big play, and instead he gets beat for a big gain or TD. He'll need to improve on his technique just a little bit to be pro ready. He's moved around his whole career at Texas between cornerback and safety, so he's a little bit of a 'tweener, but he should be able to make the adjustment to one position.

Overview:

Huff definitely has more positives then negatives, which means terrific upside that coaches love. He will more than likely end up playing safety in the NFL, and should make an immediate impact. He should be a first round pick, and the first safety off the board. If he works hard, in 3-4 years he could be considered one of the best safeties in the NFL.
