1.Oakland Raiders - Calvin Johnson, WR Georgia Tech With rumors swirling of an instant fallout between Randy Moss and new head coach Lane Kiffin, it seems likely that Moss won't be wearing the silver and black next season. That opens up a spot for a top-shelf WR in Oakland, and that's where Johnson comes in.
2. Detroit Lions - Joe Thomas, OT Wisconsin
There are quarterback issues, running back issues, and receiving game consistency issues. But the biggest issue of all, and the root of those issues? The offensive line. And Joe Thomas can help go a long ways to fix that.
3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Gaines Adams, DE Clemson
The purest pass rusher in the draft, Adams can help to bring a new energy to the Buc's defense that has been lacking since the 2005 season. With Simeon Rice likely to be a cap casualty, and Greg Spires at the end of his effective career, the Bucs need fresh blood at the position.
4. Cleveland Browns - Brady Quinn, QB Notre Dame
With their top man (Thomas) off the board, the Browns will look to a brighter future for their offense. Quinn has expressed interest in the Browns, and the fact that head coach Romeo Crennell and Quinn's teacher, Charlie Weiss, are good friends from their days in New England doesn't hurt at all.
5. Arizona Cardinals - Jamaal Anderson, DE Arkansas
The Cardinals' defense is in need of a young, top-end potential defensive end with Bertrand Berry and Chike Okeafor getting up in age and wearing down.
6. Washington Redskins - Leon Hall, CB Michigan
The Redskins' most glaring weakness last season was at corner, and while Hall may be a touch of a reach here, he has all the ability you want to see in a rescuer for a position.
7. Minnesota Vikings - Dewayne Jarrett, WR USC
Right now, the Vikings have Troy Williamson and no one else of note at receiver. Even if they get a significant free agent acquisition at the position, this is still a no-brainer pick.
8. Houston Texans - JaMarcus Russell, QB LSU
David Carr likely isn't going to be in Houston much longer, as he's triggered the ability to walk away from his contract if he desires. And who could blame him if he does? Either way, it's time for the Texans to start over offensively, and Russell would give them the ability to do so.
9. Miami Dolphins - LaRon Landry, S LSU
The Dolphins need help all over their secondary, and Landry is definitely the most elite player available there. He's a playmaker and a leader, something the Dolphins need both of among their younger defenders.
10. Atlanta Falcons - Amobi Okoye, DT Louisville
The Falcons could use some help on the interior line, as their two best players there by far (Rod Coleman and Grady Jackson) are both on the wrong side of 30 and are rapidly wearing down. As a bonus, Okoye's skills are a combination of Coleman's pocket-pushing pass-rush and Jackson's ability to shut down running lanes.
11. San Francisco 49ers - Darrelle Revis, CB Pittsburgh
Revis would bring the 49ers the kind of dynamic playmaker they haven't had in their secondary since Deion Sanders was in town. He has a gift for being around the ball wherever it ends up, and most of the time he winds up making a big play. The fact that he has a talent at returning kicks and punts is just gravy.
12. Buffalo Bills - Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
Last year, the Bills drafted the quick, penetrating pocket disruptor they needed in John McCargo. Now, they need a big, line-controlling beast, and Branch is their man. He was almost impossible to double-team in college, and it won't be much easier for teams to stop him in the NFL.
13. St. Louis Rams - Charles Johnson, DE Georgia
The Rams need help all over the defense, but nowhere so much as the defensive line. Johnson's the best lineman available, so he gets the nod.
14. Carolina Panthers - Patrick Willis, LB Ole Miss
Middle linebacker Dan Morgan has been cleared to play next year, but it's all but a guarantee that his next concussion will end his NFL career. The Panthers need someone to be able to replace him, and the fact that Willis can play at any LB position in the 4-3 defense definitely helps.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers - Quentin Moses, DE/OLB Georgia
Given that no one's quite sure what defense the Steelers will be playing quite yet, them taking a player who can play in either the 3-4 or the 4-3 is a huge plus.
16. Green Bay Packers - Adrian Peterson, RB Oklahoma
With Ahman Green unlikely to be re-signed, the Packers are faced with deciding between Vernand Morency and Noah Herron. Not a good decision to make. Thus, should Adrian Peterson fall to them, it should be pretty much a no-brainer pick.
