17. NY Jets - QB - Mark Sanchez - USC - Rex Ryan is making a point to step up the defensive play that let this team down last season. Signing Bart Scott and trading for Lito Sheppard allows him to go out and replace Brett Farve on the other side of the ball.
18. Chicago - WR - Darius Heyward-Bey - Maryland - Kyle Orton has gotten the vote of confidence from the coaching staff, but they need more weapons around him for him to excell. Bringing in running back Matt Forte last year helped, but a receiver to spread the field will really open things up.
19. Tampa Bay - DE - Tyson Jackson - LSU - Kevin Carter is 35 and a free agent, so adding another pass rusher could help this defense during their rebuilding process.
20. Detroit (f/Dal) - CB - Vontae Davis - Illinois - Since trading Lee Bodden, the Lions are short on starting caliber corners and Davis is a top-notch prospect. Another option is offensive tackle, but I feel that position is deeper and can be filled at the top of round two.
21. Philadelphia - OT - Eben Britton - Arizona - Losing Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan leaves the Eagles with needs at both offensive tackle positons and Stacey Andrews can only fill one of those position.
22. Minnesota - CB - Alphonso Smith - Wake Forest - After fixing the front seven last offseason, the Vikings can afford to spend some time and picks on the secondary this time around. I don't feel quarterback is an issue for them because John David Booty was drafted last year and Sage Rosenfels was brought in to compete with Tavaris Jackson until he's ready to take over.
23. New England - S - Lewis Delmas - Western Michigan - Rodney Harrison is old and should have retired by now. The Patriots have Brandon Meriweather, but he can't man both safety positions alone. They brought back Tully Banta Cain to help out the linebackers, so I think that allows them to work on fixing the secondary.
24. Atlanta - DT - Peria Jerry - Ole Miss - The Falcons thought long and hard last year about taking Glenn Dorsey over Matt Ryan. I know they are happy they didn't, but it's time to repair the inside of that defensive line. They have the ends but nobody inside to get the job done.
25. Miami - LB - Clay Mathews - USC - Miami re-signed Channing Crowder, but Joey Porter is aging and Bill Parcells likes to rebuild his defenses first. The Dolphins could use some playmakers on offense, but The Tuna likes linebackers.
26. Baltimore - OC - Alex Mack - California - Losing Jason Brown to the Rams could really hurt the growth of their young quarterback, so replacing him is a must. But cornerback is also a strong possiblity because Samari Rolle is in his thirties and Fabian Washington is nothing more then a nickle back. Losing linebacker Bart Scott will also hurt, but Ray Lewis will be back as should be franchised DE/OLB Terrell Suggs.
27. Indianapolis - WR - Jeremy Maclin - Missouri - Cutting Marvin Harrison leaves a hole in the Colts potent offense. Anthony Gonzales can fill in for him, but they'll need the third wide receiver to keep Peyton Manning happy. Of course they also need a defensive tackle and Ziggy Hood looks mighty good right about now.
28. Philadelphia (f/Car) - RB - Chris "Beanie" Wells - Ohio State - The Eagles need a tight end, but this class isn't high on round-one talent. They can wait until rounds 2-4 to pick up their next playmaker there. Wells is a complimentary back to Brian Westbrook that is going to take alot of pressure off of everyone.
29. NY Giants - OT - William Beatty - Connecticut - The Giants have filled their linebacker and defensive tackle holes in free agency. With Plaxico Burress' situation hanging over the team, wide receiver could be an option. But the Giants have drafted three wide receivers (Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, Sinorice Moss) in early rounds over the last couple years, so I think that upgrading their offensive tackle position is in their best interest.
30. Tennessee - DT - Evander "Ziggy" Hood - Missouri - Wide receiver is the obvious choice here, but the class is deep at the position and can wait until round two. Albert Haynesworth, on the other hand, is going to be hard to replace, but the defense will depend on doing just that in this offseason.
31. Arizona - RB - Donald Brown - Connecticut - Edgerrin James is getting old and J.J. Arrington moved on. If this team is going to make the move to a championship team, they need to learn to balance their offense. Of course, several positions on defense could be options based on free agency, along with the offensive line as well.
32. Pittsburgh - OC/OG - Max Unger - Oregon - After franchising Max Starks, re-signing Chris Kemoeatu, and releasing Kendall Simmons, the Steelers need to replace Justin Hartiwg or at least provide some depth at the inside positions of their poor offensive line and hope that he can learn to be a starter by 2010 when Willie Colon, Hartwig, and Starks all become free agents.
