After putting together a record-setting performance in the Rose Bowl, USC quarterback Mark Sanchez elected to forgo his senior season and enter the 2009 NFL Draft. At 6-3, 225 pounds, he has the size to play at the NFL level. He also has the strong arm and quick release that could make him very successful.
He's an intelligent player who has experience in a pro-style offense. He has the mobility to move around in the pocket or roll out. Generally he is accurate on short-to-intermediate passes, but can have streaks of wildness. He completed 65% of his passes in 2008 with 34 TD passes to just 10 INTs.
On the down side, he tends to hold the ball too long. And he did start just one full season in college. Because of a couple incidents early in his college career, there could be some character issues that arise as well.
Most likely, though, he will be off the board early in round one.
