Position: Running Back
School: Miami (FL)
Status: Senior
Height: 5-9
Weight: 244
40-Yard Dash: 4.45 (EST)
Positives:
Tyrone Moss is a load carrying the ball. At home running between the tackles, look for him to run into the pile and magically appear on the other side. Moss is the ultimate power back, carrying goal line and short yardage, taking big hits, and yet zero career fumbles at Miami. He translates that strength into the pass-blocking game as well, picking up blitzing defenders as well as anyone in all of college football. Moss does all the little things that it takes to make it in the NFL.

Negatives:
Moss has to upgrade his all-around game if he hopes to be successful long term in the NFL. Barely involved in the passing game, he is not a threat coming out of the backfield. Moss has also never returned a punt or kickoff in college. Injury problems have followed him, missing five games in each of the last two seasons, including season-ending knee surgery in 2005. Lastly, off field concerns arose this year when he was suspended for Miamis season opener due to violations of the teams academic policies.

Overview:
Tyrone Moss has a chance to excel in the NFL if used properly, as a system back who can flourish in short-yardage situations and selling play fakes. He lacks the necessary speed burst and hands to be a dependable 3rd-down back. But the recent success of Miami running backs in the league can only help his chances of getting a shot.

Moss game most closely resembles that of 49ers RB Frank Gore in his relentless pursuit of the goal line. If he can demonstate during his individual workouts and at the Combine that he has regained his form prior to knee surgery --where he was rushing the ball at nearly five yards a carry and well on his way to a 1,000 yards-- his stock should definitely be on the rise. A possible steal in this years draft, Moss has first-day potential but should not hear his name called until Day two.
