Adam Jones

By James Alder, About.com

Position: Cornerback

School: West Virginia

Status Junior

Height: 5-9 (5094)

Weight: 187

40-Yard Dash: 4.40

Overview:

Adam Jones is a quick cover corner with great recovery speed, however, he lacks ideal size and may have trouble matching up with the league's bigger receivers. He also plays with great intensity, but can sometimes display a lack of discipline and tends to gamble a little too much. He often bites on pump fakes, but gets by with it at times because of his natural abilities. He has excellent body control, and smooth hips and the burst out of his backpedal to turn and run with speedy receivers.
Jones is a great athlete, and possesses outstanding speed. And he's not afraid to stick his nose in there against the run. He led the Mountaineers defense in tackles as a junior, but if he hopes to continue that agressive style of play in the NFL, he'll need to bulk up somewhat or durability could become a concern. also a very good return man on kicks or punts.

Projection:

Overall, Jones has great play-making potential as a corner as well as a return man, but his size is somewhat of a concern. However, with his talent and tenacity, he'll most likely be selected in the top half of the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
