An experienced linebacker, D’Qwell Jackson has good speed and closes the gap quickly against the ground game. He is a complete linebacker with favorable size and an explosive burst. Jackson has played since his freshman year and has been a three-year starter for the Terrapins. He is also an outstanding physical specimen with a reported 35 ½” vertical and a bench of 350 pounds.
Negatives:
Jackson has had past injury issues, including his hand and wrist. He has good game-time quickness, but lacks true overall speed. Might be overmatched at the next level.
Overview:
Pronounced “Dee-Qwell”, Jackson is the type of player that won’t get the due publicity, but puts up solid stats game after game. He is an all-around athlete with a relentless attitude on the field and a great work ethic in the weight room. Jackson plays in a tough ACC conference, but has become the catalyst for the Maryland defense.
