Top 5 Super Bowl Party Recipes

By James Alder, About.com

If you've looked over our extensive collection of Super Bowl recipes, yet still can't decide what to serve at your Super Bowl party this year, then we can help you narrow down the menu to just the very favorites. I've been to enough Super Bowl parties over the years to have had the opportunity to sample most of these dishes at one time or another. And I've put together a collection of what I feel are the best suited for the Super Bowl crowd.

1. Guacamole

What Super Bowl party would be complete without the addition of authentic guacamole? According to the California Avocado Association, Americans consume 8 million pounds of guacamole on the day of the big game.

2. Italian Beef Sandwiches

This is a great hot sandwich idea that can be kept warm in a crock pot for hours. Just keep some buns, mozzarella, and mild pepper rings handy.

3. Buffalo Wings

Busy Cooks Guide Linda Larsen has instructions on whipping up a batch of world-famous Buffalo Wings, complete with blue cheese sauce. These are fantastic with beer, but make sure you have plenty of napkins on hand.

4. Chex Party Mix

You can't go wrong serving Chex Mix at any party. Strategically placing bowls of this favorite around will give your guests something light to munch on. Try out the original recipe or go with the updated version with current ingredients, including the garlic flavored bagel chips.

5. Taco Dip with Tortilla Chips

This dip, made from cheese, chili, and ground beef, is another item you can just leave in the crock pot all afternoon. Just keep plenty of tortilla chips on hand, along with some mild pepperoncini or jalapeno peppers.
