Falcons Draft Board
Urgent: Grady Jackson was lost to free agency to the Detroit Lions, Dominique Foxworth to the Baltimore Ravens, Keith Brooking to the Dallas Cowboys, and Michael Boley to the New York Giants. Despite having a great comeback in 2008, the Atlanta Falcons now need to draft a run-stuffing defensive tackle, a starting cornerback, and two outside linebackers on day one who can all start in 2009.
Strong: The Falcons need a starting strong safety to eventually replace Lawyer Milloy, a talent upgrade at tight end, a starting left offensive tackle to eventually replace Todd Weiner, who is 33 years old, and they have a potential free agent at starting right offensive guard. These are needs that should be addressed in the 2009 draft.
Medium: A reserve offensive tackle, another defensive tackle, a nickel back, and a place kicker would also be good to acquire during the 2009 NFL Draft or as rookie undrafted free agents.
Nice to Have: Another defensive back and solid special teamers would be nice to have.
Wildcard: Will Jamaal Anderson play up to his potential and will fellow defensive end John Abraham stay healthy in 2009?
