Denver Broncos 2008 NFL Draft Needs

Draft Needs of the Denver Broncos

From Andrew Wynne and James Alder, for About.com

Mar 11 2008

Defensive Tackle — Denver ranked 30th in the league in run defense during 2007. A powerful run-stuffing defensive tackle is needed to collapse opposing offenses at the point of attack and take away their inside running game.

Left Offensive Tackle — Unless the Broncos feel Ryan Harris can take over as a starting left offensive tackle, a zone-blocking rookie to start at left offensive tackle will need to be drafted to protect quarterback Jay Cutler.

Defensive Tackle — Questions allegedly have surfaced about the off field behavior of Marcus Thomas. Accordingly, Denver may need to draft a second defensive tackle.

Safety — A safety to replace the 36-year-old John Lynch who can cover and defend against the run is needed.

Running Back — Due to the uncertain future of Travis Henry, another runner is needed. The Broncos will probably turn another second-day draft choice into a very good runner.

Special Teams — The Broncos need help covering punts and kickoffs.
