Tennessee Titans 2008 NFL Draft Needs

Draft Needs of the Tennessee Titans

From Andrew Wynne and James Alder, for About.com

Mar 26 2008

Wide Receiver — If the Titans hope for Vince Young to develop to his full potential, they need to get him a true franchise wide receiver to help open up the offense.

Defensive Tackle — Albert Haynesworth is a fantastic force in the middle of the Titans defensive line, but the defense suffered a noticeable decline after he went down with an injury. Defensive tackle Randy Starks has signed with Miami. Adding another young playmaker to the rotation is essential.

Defensive End – The Titans two projected starting ends, Kyle Vanden Bosh and Jevon Kearse are on the downside of their careers. Antwan Odom signed with Cincinnati and Travis LaBoy signed with Arizona. The Titans need a guy who can contribute immediately as a situational pass rusher and eventually develop into a starter. Someone who can add a spark to their pass rush is needed.

Cornerback — Even if he is reinstated by the league, it's not likely Adam "Pacman" Jones will ever play for the Titans again, so another solid cover corner is needed.

Offensive Guard/Center — A young interior offensive lineman is needed to groom along side Leroy Harris and behind 36-year-old Kevin Mawae, 32-year-old Benji Olson, and recently signed Jake Scott.

Outside Linebacker — A young outside linebacker is needed to backup Keith Bulluck and David Thornton.

Return Specialist — Everyone is looking for that next Devin Hester or Joshua Cribbs, and the Titans are no exception. If they can find an explosive return specialist at the right price, they should grab him.

Punter — A young punter should be brought in for competition.

Running Back – A third runner may be drafted to back up LenDale White and Chris Henry since Chris Brown signed with Houston.
