2008 Philadelphia Eagles

NFC Wild Card

By James Alder, About.com Guide

Heading into the postseason, the Philadelphia Eagles must really feel like a team with a new lease on life. So many things had to fall into place over the final two weeks of the season just for them to have a chance at taking the final wild-card berth in the NFC from the Dallas Cowboys. But, regardless of how unlikely the scenarios appeared, fall into place they did.

And when they met the Cowboys during week 17 in what was essentially a playoff game, they were leaving nothing to chance. They, in fact, put together perhaps their finest outing of the year, destroying the division-rival Cowboys and their playoff hopes, 44-6.

Now Andy Reid and company are faced with the task of continuing that momentum, and he has surely pointed out to his troops how another NFC East team rode a late-season rally to an unlikely championship just one year ago. If there is a dark horse that might come out of the NFC, this could be it. They have the talent and many of their players have been there before.
