In other words, Packers' training camp is about to explode into a full-blown media frenzy. And the distraction this situation has created over the past few weeks will seem like nothing compared to the storm that is about to erupt.
The Packers' options at this point are to cut Favre, trade him, or allow him to work out with the rest of the team. They could also up the ante on this so-called "marketing deal", and persuade Favre to remain retired. But with the future Hall of Fame quarterback expected to be in Green Bay by Sunday night, it seems he is determined to play football again this year whether it be with the Packers or for some other team.
Of course, Favre's presence in Titletown doesn't mean he won't ultimately accept some sort of bribe marketing deal to remain retired. This could simply be a way of pressuring the Packers into meeting his retirement needs.
