The Team:

Team Colors: Purple, Black, and Gold
Head Coach: Brian Billick
Owner: Steve Bisciotti
Mascot: Edgar, Allen, and Poe
Location: Baltimore, Maryland

Offensive Rankings:

Run: 25th (102.3 ypg)
Pass: 11th (214.7 ypg)
Overall: 17th (317.0 ypg)
Points Per Game: 12th (22.1 ppg)
Key Player: Steve McNair

The Ravens have struggled to get a running game going this season, so they must rely on McNair's arm to move this offense. He is a savvy veteran, who rarely makes mistakes, as is evidenced by the team's relatively low number of giveaways during the season. If defenses can shut McNair down or force him to take chances, the Ravens are likely to struggle offensively.

Defensive Rankings:

Run: 2nd (75.9 ypg)
Pass: 6th (188.2 ypg)
Overall: 1st (264.1 ypg)
Points Per Game: 1st (12.6 ppg)
Key Player: Ed Reed

There are so many great players on this squad it's almost unfair to pick just one key player. MLB Ray Lewis is still a huge part of this unit, but Reed has taken over as the best defender on the team. He just does so many things well, including calling all the alignments in the secondary. He has great range in coverage, along with tremendous ball skills and football instincts.

Turnovers:

Give Aways: 25th (23)
Take Aways: 2nd (40)

Outlook:

The Ravens are just loaded with talent on defense, and will be a tough task for any team they face in the playoffs. There's just no obvious way to attack them because they defend both the run and pass very well. Unfortunately, they don't run the ball as well as they defend it, which will allow teams to focus more on stopping the Steve McNair connections with Mark Clayton and Todd Heap.

Any team that holds its opponents to 12.6 points per game throughout an entire season has to be taken seriously, but a very average offense could make getting past other powerhouses, like the Chargers and Patriots, very difficult.
