There have been a lot of questions about whether or not Gibbs can adjust to today's NFL. I think most Redskins fans would agree, however, that Gibbs is the least of the teams concerns. After all, he is the reason behind the three Super Bowl trophies displayed at Redskins Park and has already been enshrined in Canton. He has also assembled the most experienced staff in the NFL around him to ease the transition after twelve years away.
The offense is loaded with weapons, and Gibbs and company will put them all in position to make plays. All eyes will be on the defensive line, though, as that remains a huge question mark. Gregg Williams will have to work hard to cover up its deficiencies and get the most out of it. The recent trend of dealing away draft picks for veterans has left the team lacking in the depth department, so injuries in a few key spots would show some glaring weaknesses.
The superb caliber of the competition in the NFC East will also make it a weekly struggle to get wins. Getting to the playoffs in Gibbs first year back may be a reach, but they should improve mightily over last years 5-11 record. 9-7 is a reasonable expectation, but probably not enough to get into the post-season.
