Fear not Browns fans, considering how bad your team is, you will undoubtedly have the first pick in next year's draft. What? Cleveland traded next year's first-round draft pick to Dallas!?! Well, I guess that means that the Steelers (and the rest of the AFC North) will have two extra bye-weeks for the next few seasons.
Before you say that I am not giving the Steelers enough credit for their win, look at Cleveland's first punt of the game, when there were four penalties called on the Browns. Again, that is four penalties on one punt. Not a running play...not a passing play...but, on a punt.
Alright, alright: I will admit that the Steelers deserve some credit in their win over the Browns. First of all, Ben Roethlisberger looked laser-sharp in his throws, completing four touchdown passes to four different receivers. Nay-sayers will point to Ben's miniscule amount of yards passing (161 yards). But, Cleveland's turnovers gave Pittsburgh a shortened field, which in turn, meant that less yardage was available for Ben to amass. Similarly, doubters will point out the fact that the Steelers started several of their drives on Cleveland's side of the field. But, again, regardless of where the drives started, Ben finished four of those drives with touchdown passes.
Then, once the Steelers were well in the lead, I essentially spent the rest of the game with one eye watching next week's opponent (Marshawn Lynch and the Buffalo Bills). And, to be honest, I think that the Steelers were doing the same.
In summation, while not much information can be gleaned from Sunday's game (aside from the fact that Cleveland Browns are on par with the University City Centurions), winning the games you are supposed to win is what good teams do, and Pittsburgh did just that.
