Heading into the 2008 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were expected to contend for the AFC North title. They were, after all, the defending division champs. Having finished the 2007 season with identical 10-6 records, the Steelers and Cleveland Browns were expected to battle for the crown, but the challengers failed to live up to their overblown expectations and offered no challenge whatsoever.
Instead, Pittsburgh was chased all season by the Baltimore Ravens, but managed to put the division away following an entertaining race down the stretch.
If there was a concern for the Steelers going into the season, it was with their offensive line. But the unit held up a bit better than expected, and the offense did just enough to complement perhaps the best defense in the league. Some of their concerns remained heading into the playoffs, but they held it all together and went on to become the first team to win the Super Bowl for a sixth time with a 27-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
