2008 Tennessee Titans

AFC South Champions

By , About.com Guide

The Tennessee Titans entered the 2008 NFL season a bit under the radar. Defensively, they were expected to compete, but on offense quarterback Vince Young was still learning the ropes of his position and he didn't appear to have a lot of dependable weapons to work with.

Things didn't start the way they were expected for Tennessee, though, as Young suffered an injury in the team's first game of the regular season and the Titans were forced to turn to nearly-forgotten veteran Kerry Collins behind center. In hindsight, the injury to Young may have been the best thing to happen to the team as they ran off victories in each of their first ten games.

With the experienced Collins offering a consistent steadying influence to the offense, the Titans turned to a run-focused attack on offense and relied heavily on one of, if not the best defense in the league to keep them in games. They also got an added bonus from a rookie who proved to be perhaps their most explosive threat.
