2007-08 Tennessee Titans Playoff Profile

By

The Stats:

Regular Season Record: 10-6
Last Six Games: 4-2

All-Time Playoff Record: 12-14
Titans' Previous Playoff Results

The Team:

Team Colors: Navy, Titan Blue, White, and Red
Head Coach: Jeff Fisher
Owner: Bud Adams
Location: Nashville, Tennessee

Offensive Ranking:

Run: 5th (131.8)
Pass: 27th (179.9)
Overall: 21st (311.7)
Points Per Game: 22nd (18.8)
Key Player: Vince Young
Young's health is in question entering the playoffs after suffering a quad injury in the team's win over the Colts in week 17. The team needs Young healthy enough that he can use his mobility to his advantage, but even more so, they need him to find some consistency. He has been up and down all season, and has thrown nearly twice as many interceptions as he has touchdown passes.
If the offensive unit is going to continue being so inconsistent, they are going to have to protect the ball better and give their defense a chance to win the game for them.

Defensive Ranking:

Run: 5th (92.4)
Pass: 10th (199.2)
Overall: 5th (291.6)
Points Per Game: 8th (18.6)
Key Player: Kyle Vanden Bosch and Albert Haynesworth
The strength of the Titans is by far their defense, and it all starts with the disruptive abilities of both Vanden Bosch and Haynesworth. Both are excellent at collapsing the pocket, which makes life much easier on their secondary.

Turnovers:

Give Aways: 34
Take Aways: 34

Outlook:

The Titans enter the playoffs on a bit of a roll, having won their last three games. However, their offense has turned the ball over far too often this season, and they must get that under control in the post-season, otherwise they'll be a quick one-and-out come playoff time.

They also can't afford to fall behind because they just don't score a lot of points. They have received a boost in the run game over the second half from LenDale White. But if this team is going to get past any of the powerhouses in the AFC playoff field, Young is going to have to step up his game and give the team a lift with his arm.
