I don't think there's much doubt that running back Adrian Peterson is the focus of the Minnesota Vikings offense and he is arguably the best pure runner in the game today. His league leading 1,760 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns are a testament to his ability and importance to the Vikings.

There are some areas of his game that he could stand to improve, though. He's probably not as good in pass protection as backup Chester Taylor, and he has had a horrendous time holding onto the football lately, fumbling five times in the team's final four regular-season games.

The Vikings margin for error is going to very thin in the postseason, so they can't afford to turn the ball over. Peterson is going to have to do a much better job of protecting the ball, especially now that he is developing a bit of a reputation as a fumbler. Teams will be focusing on trying to get a hand on the ball every time he carries it because of his recent struggles, so he is going to have to start paying closer attention to how he holds the ball.
