Feds Move In, Vick's Cousin Speaks Up

Friday June 8, 2007
As federal agents take action by moving in to do their own search of the Surrey County property owned by Michael Vick, the cousin of the Atlanta Falcons quarterback is stepping forward to accept responsibility. But it's not really clear what he is accepting responsibility for.

Davon Boddie, who lived on the property under investigation for dog fighting, had this to say to the Daily Press:

"I want him (Goodell) to know that everything going on is really my fault," said Boddie. "I want to apologize to Atlanta Falcons fans for what's going on. It's a lot of drama."
Basically, it seems all Boddie is saying is, if the authorities find enough concrete evidence of wrongdoing on the property to pursue charges, Vick is not responsible and he is. Boddie is careful, of course, not to incriminate himself by actually admitting there was anything illegal going on. He's simply trying to take some of the heat off Vick by pointing out that it was his arrest for possession of marijuana that fueled a search warrant that originally got the ball rolling in this case. Without his stupidity, authorities may have never uncovered the evidence they needed to search the property, and Vick wouldn't find himself in the predicament he is in.

In the long run, though, Bodde's statements will have little bearing on the court of public opinion. Vick is his meal ticket, and his comments are most likely nothing more than an attempt to take a little heat off the Golden Goose. And most will recognize just how self-serving they are.

Bodde's time would probably be better served by requesting that, should he happen to have by chance been involved in any illegal activities (wink, wink), he gets to serve his time at the Century Regional Detention Facility.

1st off as an Atlanta Falcons fan, thank you for reporting your story and not your opinion added on to it..Whether or not,u think he is guilty or innocent i don’t care,im just fed up with everyone pointing out the guilty charges(thru public opinion),that this case brings on concerning our QB..

2nd)He has come out way late..i think he was waiting on the D.A. Poindexter(whom i think was doing a great job not rushing into judgement)to really look into the facts and see (like he stated that does not appear in your column)that dog fighting did not happen there..

My problem is he is not saying that he is not into dog fighting at all..He said it didn’t happen there on the property, but not at all….

If Michael Vick had anything to do with this, he should be punished to the full extent of the law. In the interim, he should be suspended from playing football. If the allegations are true, he is one sick puppy. Under our system of justice we can’t put him to sleep or execute him as he allegedly did the dogs, but I’d be for changing the system to accomodate such justice.

I think it’s ridiculous that people are more worried about their precious QB from being suspended than justice being served. These poor dogs were forced to fight and then brutally murded if they didn’t do well. And people are like oh they’re just dogs. YES, they are JUST dogs and we’re JUST people. Does that make it right? I think this whole situation is udderly disgusting & he deserves to pay for it. WHY DO WE PAY PEOPLE LIKE THIS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A YEAR???!?!?!?!? This messed up world never ceases to amaze me.

I think Vick should be left alone, because it’s sees to me as a racial thing.

Michael Vick, if found guilty, when taken to prison should be stripped down, bent over and told to assume the position as he is tied to a rape stand. He should be tied to this rape stand for the full extent of his stay in jail and that STILL would not be justice served for what was done to these poor animals. Yeah, they were just dogs; however, dogs have the cognitive mental capabilities of a 2-year-old child. They feel pain, fear, hate, love, hunger, thirst, what being neglected feels like, what abuse is, etc., so if Michael Vick is found guilty, this is why I wish this upon him. Of course, when he goes to Hell, the dogs should have a go at him for all eternity.

I think Vick should be left alone, because it’s sees to me as a racial thing…GIVE ME A DAMN BREAK…every time someone black does something you call racism. I call BULLSH**!!! I don’t care if he is purple with green polka dots, if he did this to the dogs he deserves to burn. I would throw him in a pit bull ring myself and watch him bleed as they went for his neck. NOTICE, I said if he did what he is accused of doing. Regardless, don’t use color as an excuse to get out of trouble, get over it…this is 2007

debralynne,
I agree with you 100%. The racial crap is getting old. I’m white and I have black relatives. I’m not racial or prejudice but I too am sick of that crap! I’m white so if I hurt poor innocent dogs do you think they would be saying it’s racial? URRRR
