
When the Dallas Cowboys stuck a franchise player label on their star linebacker Anthony Spencer recently, quite a few NFL teams hungry for 'backers cringed.
Spencer was the star of the show among the free agent linebackers available, but he will now be with the Cowboys for at least another year.
This is the second year in a row Dallas has tagged Spencer, essentially making him ineligible for free agency.
Among the leftovers are Phillip Wheeler and Brian Urlacher, the tough, durable linebacker who has spent all of his 13 years in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. There are others, though, who are getting serious consideration from teams looking to shore up their defenses.
Here are my top five free agent linebackers who can begin talking with other teams March 9.
