Philadelphia Eagles 2003-04 Playoff Team

Strengths:

The strength of the Philadelphia Eagles is quarterback Donovan McNabb. Despite a slow start at the beginning of the season, he has come on strong and showed why he has received MVP consideration in past years. McNabb's strength, speed, and agility buys valuable time for his receivers. He is always a threat to run, which causes a lot of indecision on the part of defenders.

Weaknesses:

With starter Hollis Thomas out with a torn biceps, the interior of the Eagles defnse is a bit suspect. Teams that have strong inside runners could give them trouble. Corey Simon and Darwin Walker are the only true defensive tackles the Eagles have available, and middle linebacker Mark Simoneau can be pushed around by a power running attack.

On offense, the Eagles’ wide receivers are very inconsistent, although Freddie Mitchell has come on a bit recently.

Overview:

As McNabb goes, so go the Eagles. If he struggles like he did early in the season, they are in trouble, but when he plays well, it seems to make all other aspects of the Eagles game work better. Philadelphia's interior defense is going to have to stiffen a little against teams with strong running games or McNabb will spend significant time on the sidelines watching.
