St. Louis Rams 2003-04 Playoff Team

12-4

All-Time Playoff Record: 19-24

Strengths:

The Rams still have one of the leagues most explosive offenses, especially when they're playing on the carpet at home. Their wide receivers are as dangerous as any group in the league. They are third in the league in passing, and they have yet to lose a game in the Edward Jones Dome.

Weaknesses:

The Rams' kick coverage is among the worst in the league, and their punt coverage ended the season ranked last.

The defense struggles against the run up the middle and they gave up 123 yards per game during the regular season. If they struggle early in games, they'll be forced to move SS Adam Archuleta into the box, which will expose their corners to more man-to-man coverage. And then there's the play calling of Mike Martz. He seems to forget about the running game at times, which is a shame with former MVP Marshall Faulk lining up in the backfield.

Overview:

Offensively, the Rams are among the best in the league. They should put a lot of points on the board, especially at home. The defense must be able to slow down the run or they are going to struggle, and special teams have got to stop giving away field position.

The Rams have the potential to win it all if things go their way, but their run defense concerns me, as does playing outside in Philadelphia or Green Bay in January.
