This is kind of a dead time right now for NFL football, and us Pro Football nuts need something to pass the time leading up to training camp so we don't go completely insane. I've analyzed the draft to death, I know where all the free agents have landed, and I even have my wife's flower bed off to a decent start.

But I'm at the point now that I need some type of football competition to keep me from going completely looney. I can't keep my sanity if the only thing getting me through the summer is a constant battle with the tiny maple trees that keep sprouting between the rows of marigolds and petunias in my back yard.

Sure my beloved Cubbies are in first place right now, but I am no longer the happy-go-lucky, always-optimistic Cub fan that I was in my younger days. I cannot allow myself to be drawn in by their subliminal messages of "really, we can win it all this year", or "We won't break your heart again this year, honest we won't", because sooner or later the curse of the billy goat will kick in and we'll be waitin' for next year again.

To help me get through the dog days of summer, I've come up with a great game that is sure to help you pass the time, and also test your football knowledge.

Well actually, I can't take full credit for coming up with the game since it has been on television for decades, but I have modified it, and maybe even improved on it.

The game we are going to play is called Pro Football Jeopardy, and we are going to play it right here on the Pro Football Forum. Anyone can join in on the fun at any point in the game, so be prepared to battle with lots of other football fans in this contest of gridiron trivia.

The rules are based on the Jeopardy game show, and are very simple:

1. Each round will consist of 25 questions, with five catagories containing five questions each. (answers do not need to be in the form of a question)
2. Each game will consist of two rounds, with questions in the second round being worth twice as much as the first round.
3. Each round of questions will contain one "Visual Daily Double" in which you can double your points by identifying a photograph (picture may or may not be related to the questions catagory). Player selecting the Visual Daily Double will be allowed to place a wager up to the amount of their current score.
4. The winner will be the person that has the most points at the end of the game. We will not have a Final Jeopardy question like they do on the television show.

Scoring: In the first round, questions in each catagory will have values of 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 points. In the second round they will be worth 200, 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 points.

To begin the game I will post the five catagories available in the first round, and the first person to request a question from one of these catagories, along with the point value, will be in control of the board. I will then post the question with that point value from the catagory chosen.

Once the question is posted, anyone may answer it, however, the first person to get it right will receive the points assigned to that particular question. (I will post the current score with each new question) If a player answers incorrectly, then the points assigned to the question will be deducted from their score. (we will not go below zero)

If a question is not answered correctly within 48 hours of being posted, then it will be eliminated and the player controlling the board will chose a new question.

The person that answers the question correctly first will also gain control of the board. I will post the remaining catagories and the value of all remaining questions, for the player controlling the board to chose from, when I verify that they have answered correctly.

The game will continue until we have answered all the questions in both rounds.

There is no limit to the number of contestants, so anyone can join in at anytime. Just make sure you follow the string of posts to get to the current question.

Let's get started playing Pro Football Jeopardy!
