Are You Ready For Some Football?
By: James AlderDateline: Sept 1, 2000
If you are a football fanatic that lives and dies every week based on the results of your favorite NFL team's performance on the field, then you know that you just cannot sleep walk into the 2000 season without doing a little bit of research. You need to do some investigation into the offseason to see what's been going on since the St.Louis Rams stopped the Tennessee Titans one yard shy of a Super Bowl victory. After all, how can you call yourself a true die-hard fan if you haven't checked out what all the major football sites are saying about your team this year.
The first thing you need to check out is who is playing where. With all the player movement during the offseason, how could you possibly keep up with which players took the free agent route, which ones were cut or traded, and which ones retired. Before you go any further, make sure you check this list of key transactions so you can assess any shifts in power that may occur due to the gain or loss of key players.
After you become familiar with all the new faces on your favorite team, then you need to check out who they will be playing this year. You already know that they will play each team in their division twice, but you will need to check the team schedules to see how tough the rest of their schedule looks. And with your favorite team's schedule in front of you, you may be able to get a better idea what kind of record they will finish with.
Now, after finding out who is on your team and who they will be playing, you need to check out the preseason previews to see where your team is expected to finish this season. I have posted my own personal previews of each division if you want to know how I think the season will pan out. Make sure you bookmark these pages so you can come back at the end of the season to see how good (or bad) my prognostications were.

Team previews are all fine and dandy, but just because some so-called expert picked your team to finish last doesn't mean you should give up on your team this year. Right? Just ask the St.Louis Rams' fans about that. What you need to know is what is going on with your team right now, and with things really heating up now you need daily coverage of your favorite team to keep up with all the current events.
That daily in-depth coverage that you crave is available on the Pro Football Team Pages. Each team page is linked to at least 16 of the best coverage sites dedicated to the team you chose, so if you want to know all the latest news and rumors related to your favorite team this is a great place to find it all. There is literally hours of information available on each team on these pages.
After hours and hours of pouring over all the information on the team pages, you should be ready for the season to begin. So now all you need to do is check out the weekly NFL schedule so you know who is playing who this week. You might even want to peek ahead a week or two just to see what lies ahead in the coming weeks.
Now that you have all this information just waiting to explode inside you, you need someone to share it all with. I would love to know what everyone thinks about the upcoming season so I will be hosting our first scheduled chat this Saturday night at 8:00pm eastern time. Keep an eye on the Pro Football Home Page for more regularly scheduled chat sessions coming soon. And don't forget about the Pro Football Forum. The forum is one of the best places on the net to discuss, debate, and trash talk with other viewers just like yourself.
If you are a real die-hard and you still haven't had enough, even after the chat and forum, then you might enjoy trying out some of the great games available here. Check out the Trivia Maze if you think you know your football trivia, then try another interesting game called Find the Misfit. The one game you don't want to miss is the About Football's Weekly Wipeout. This season-long game should add a little more interest to the 2000 season as we see which player survives through the entire season.
Now let's all find ourselves a nice comfortable chair, huddle up together as close to the big screen television as we can, pop the top off of a cold one, and all shout together...
