About Football's Featured 2005 NFL Mock Draft

Round 2

From Forum Moderator TheHeed, for About.com

1. San Francisco 49ers - Khalif Barnes, OT Washington (6'5-310-4.8)
Very quick and fast for a big man. Athletic and agile. He will make a nice addition to the offensive line.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (from Miami) - Ciatrick Fason, RB Florida (6'0-220-4.4)
Westbrook needs a solid back up RB. Fason brings another dimension to the Eagles and makes things more interesting.

3. Cleveland Browns - Dan Cody, DE/OLB Oklahoma (6'5-270-4.7)
With Crennel probably moving to a 3-4 defense, Cody will man the DE/OLB position that he covets. I honestly don't think Cody is 1st-round material.

4. Chicago Bears - Marcus Johnson, OG/OT Ole Miss (6'6-30-4.9)
Good size and speed. Good at locking onto a defensive player and driving the guy out of the box. He has the frame to play tackle in the pros and the Bears could use help on that department.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Vernand Morency, RB Oklahoma St (5'10-220-4.5)
Explosive back who has a lot of talent and speed. While a DT is a need, no one's worth this high. Morency will be a good RB to go with Pittman.

6. Tennessee Titans - Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma (5'10-185-4.5)
Titans' receivers aren't getting any younger and with Chow at the helm, he will look for a good playmaker and a possession receiver who can continue the drive.

7. Oakland Raiders - Chris Henry, WR West Virginia (6'5-200-4.5)
Porter will most likely be gone and there isn't exactly a lot of WRs in FA. Henry comes into the draft with a lot of attitude and a chip on his shoulder. With that and his size, he is a typical Al Davis pick.

8. Arizona Cardinals - Brandon Browner, CB Oregon St (6'4-200-4.4)
A physical freak who could move to safety if needed. Cardinals could use a good CB.

9. New Orleans Saints (from Washington) - Daryl Blackstock, OLB Virginia (6'4-240-4.7)
They need an upgrade at the OLB spot and Blackstock is a sack specialist.

10. Detroit Lions - Demarcus Ware, DE Troy (6'4-235-4.7)
Ware will need to add more weight, but he is a fast and quick sack specialist.

11. Dallas Cowboys - Marlin Jackson, CB Michigan (6'1-295-4.4)
Physical and aggressive CB who could be a better pro player. He will go nicely with Newman.

12. New York Giants - Odell Thurman, MLB Georgia (6'1-240-4.7)
While OT is a dire need, no one is worth this high and Giants could use some MLB help.

13. Houston Texans - Ernest Shazor, SS Michigan (6'4-225-4.5)
Shazor will need some work, but you can't deny his physical attributes. Texans' defensive backfield should be complete.

14. Carolina Panthers - Eric Green, FS/CB Virginia Tech (6'0-200-4.5)
While he is a CB, he could make a nice FS; something the Panthers need.

15. Kansas City Chiefs - Lance Mitchell, MLB Oklahoma (6'3-245-4.8)
They need some LB help and Mitchell is pretty good MLB.

16. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans) - Charlie Frye, QB Akron (6'4-230-4.7)
Brett Favre needs a student to pass down his knowledge for the Packers. Frye has the tools to be a good QB, and just needs time with a good teacher like Favre.

17. Cincinnai Bengals - David Bass, OG/C Michigan (6'5-325-5.1)
Brings a lot of size and toughness.

18. Minnesota Vikings - Josh Bullock, FS Nebraska (6'0-200-4.5)
Brian Russell needs replacing.

19. St. Louis Rams - Barrett Ruud, ILB Nebraska (6'2-240-4.7)
He's a smart player and a throwback MLB. Robert Thomas has been dissapointing.

20. Buffalo - Chris Spencer, C Ole Miss (6'4-310-5.1)
Good size and quickness and a good addition to that offensive line.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars - Fabian Washington, CB Nebraska (5'11-180-4.35)
A blazer and a great athlete, he will need work but upside is high.

22. Baltimore Ravens - James Butler, FS Georgia Tech (6'3-210-4.5)
Will Demps is average, so they could use Butler's ability. He will go nicely with Reed.

23. Seattle Seahawks - Eric Shelton, RB Louisville (6'3-250-4.5)
With Alexander, who seems likely to leave, they need another workhorse.

24. Green Bay Packers - Donte Nicholson, SS Oklahoma (6'2-215-4.5)
Roman needs replacing and Donte is a tough SS.

25. Denver Broncos - Matt Roth, DE Iowa (6'4-270-4.7)
Pass rusher they have been looking for.

26. New York Jets - Kevin Everett, TE Miami (6'6-250-4.8)
Becht's replacement is another in a line of Miami TEs.

27. Atlanta Falcons - Oshimogho Atogwe, S Stanford (6'0-200-4.5)
Can and has played both safety spots, something the Falcons could use.

28. San Diego Chargers - Chris Colmer, OT North Carolina St (6'5-300-5.1)
Adds depth and a possible starter at left tackle.

29. Indianapolis Colts - Corey Webster, CB LSU (6'0-200-4.5)
The CB help the Colts need.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers - Reggie Brown, WR Georgia (6'1-200-4.5)
Probably the strongest WR coming out. With Plax leaving, they need another vertical threat. Brown is just that, and could be the steal of the draft.

31. Philadelphia Eagles - Fred Gibson, WR Georgia (6'4-190-4.5)
All Freddi Mitchell has done is flap his mouth. Gibson will go nicely with TO.

32. New England Patriots - Jeremy Parguet, OT South Miss (6'7-340-5.2)
Huge upside and could develop into a starter. Pats need some depth at OT.
