9. Washington Redskins - Antrel Rolle, CB Miami (Fla)
Makes sense since they have to replace Freddie Smoot and Springs spends more time in the trainer's room than on the field.
10. Detroit Lions - Marcus Spears, DE LSU
It's a shame they have Boss bailey and Teddy Lehman, because Derrick Johnson would look nice here too. But that's okay, because with the size they would now boast on their D-Line with Big Daddy Wilkinson and Rogers along with Spears and then Hall coming off the edge, their puny linebackers won't have to worry as much about getting flattened by lineman.
11. Dallas Cowboys - Derrick Johnson, OLB Texas
AND THE WINNER OF THE DERRICK JOHNSON SWEEPSTAKES IS... (can you tell I am big on Derrick Johnson?). Yep, I said it, my least favorite team in all the land (besides the Packers) gets DJ. Congratulations. I still don't think he is a 3-4 backer, but with his ability, he could even move to the inside. No, I don't think it's a good fit for him, but I think that they'll take him. However, I DID say that I wasn't going to guess at any trades, but I wouldn't be surprised to see someone jump up to get him, because after the Vikings stupidly pass on him, I don't think anyone until No. 12 could really use him to his fullest potential. But I also don't think the Boys would pass him up, because they need backers.
12. San Diego Chargers - Shawne Merriman, DE/OLB Maryland
Another guy I think is more talented than half the guys that got drafted before him. He helps a SD pass rush that has been lacking the last couple years (but got a huge boost from some rookies last year, which can only be furthered by the workhorse that is Merriman).
13. Houston Texans - Alex Barron, OT Florida State
They almost gave Orlando Pace something in the area of $800,000,000. I think that shows how bad they want to keep David Carr off his kiester.
14. Carolina Panthers - Troy Williamson, WR South Carolina
No, I don't like this pick either, but the Panthers are caught in a weird place. They need a big receiver to complement Smith, but they're both gone. Williamson is fast, but he's so much like Smith that I don't know how it will work out for them. But at a place in the draft where defensive line/rush backers for a 3-4 are plentiful, we find ourselves with a team picking that doesn't need that help.
15. Kansas City Chiefs - Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn
That is, if they can't get their hands on Ty Law. But with Randy on the schedule twice every year from now on, they have got to start getting ready, and from what I have heard, his workout was phenomenal.
16. New Orleans Saints - Dan Cody, DE/OLB Oklahoma
Do they need him? Nope. Will the Saints take a position they don't need? Yep (see 2004 draft, pick 18: Will Smith). And actually, I am kind of playing into the rumors that Darren Howard is on his way out.
