About Football's Featured 2005 NFL Mock Draft III

Round 1

17. Cincinnati Bengals - Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin
He's just the best player left. I just don't think they can pass on him here, not with such a bad run defense... unless they think Geathers can fill the position across from Smith.

18. Minnesota Vikings - Shaun Cody, DE/DT USC
I think they probably had a list of about 15 guys they would've wanted here and they're all gone. I don't like Shaun Cody this high. Some say he is great because he is versatile and can play DT or DE... I say that is bad: that he is too small to play DT and too slow to play DE. But, the Vikings need a DE here, and I think they will think that they have to take him (even though there are much better players at this point, including Heath Miller, Travis Johnson, Thomas Davis, DeMarcus Ware).

19. St. Louis Rams - Khalif Barnes, OT Washington
Too many problems with OTs on this team not named after a city in central Florida. They can fill a need while taking what is maybe the most talented player left. Oh, and yes, to answer your question, I DO think he is better than Jamaal Brown.

20. Dallas Cowboys - Brodney Pool, S Oklahoma
After Thomas Davis ran a slow enough 40 for most people to decide he will be a WLB in the NFL, Brodney Pool became the best safety in the draft. And the Cowboys want a safety bad.

21. Jacksonville Jaguars - Fabian Washington, CB Nebraska
In a division that has you facing guys like Marvin Harrison and Andre Johnson twice a year each, they need the speed. And since this guy basically set a combine record for the 40, he might just be worth the high pick.

22. Baltimore Ravens - Travis Johnson, DT Florida State
Any D-line that has Travis Johnson, Terrell Suggs, and Kelly Gregg is good enough for me (and for the Ravens). This was the last piece they needed to convert to a 4-3 defense.

23. Seattle Seahawks - Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma
It's time to admit that Koren Robinson just won't ever get his head on straight, and this would be a great guy to line up across from Darrell Jackson. And more, than anything, it would be someone Hasselbeck could FINALLY count on not dropping the ball all the time.

24. Green Bay Packers - Thomas Davis, S/OLB Georgia
Whether he plays safety of linebacker, the Pack could use him. First and foremost, he's an athlete and a football player, and the Packers have lost some of those recently.
