Robert Meachem

By James Alder, About.com

Positional Rankings: QB RB FB WR TE OT OG C - DE DT ILB OLB S CB - K P

Position: Wide Receiver

School: Tennessee

Status: Junior

Height: 6-2

Weight: 215

40-Yard Dash: 4.40 (EST)

Positives:

Robert Meachem is a wide receiver with a nice combination of size and speed, and an initial burst off the line of scrimmage that is even more impressive. He, in fact, clocked one of the fastest times at the NFL Combine in the 10-yard split (the first 10 yards of the 40-yard dash), displaying his ability to get off the line quickly.

Meachem also has dependable hands, and does a great job of catching the ball in stride. He's also adept at getting yards after the catch against smaller defensive backs.

Negatives:

Despite his size, Meachem isn't a very physical receiver. He's not comfortable going over the middle and will drop catchable balls in traffic. He also needs to improve his inconsistent route running.

Overview:

Meachem has the size and speed to be an elite receiver in the NFL, but his propensity to shy away from contact has to be a concern. He has the ability to make an impact immediately as a deep threat on the outside, but unless he has an attitude adjustment, he's not going to be much of a target over the middle.
