Position: Cornerback
School: Howard
Status: Senior
Height: 6-1½
Weight: 200
40-Yard Dash: 4.40(est)
Positives: Ron Bartell Jr. has the tremendous natural athletic ability needed to play cornerback in the NFL. He has great speed, quickness, and body control to go along with a 37-inch vertical leap. He also possesses good size, the strength to jam receivers, and he plays with a lot of confidence. Basically, he has all of the tools you look for in a defensive back.
Negatives: Playing at Howard, he hasn't played against many of the elite receivers in the nation, and he relys too much on his superior natural ability to get by at the Division 1-AA level. He has sloppy technique that will need to be polished and he tends to overplay the receiver at times.
Projection: With Bartell's nautural skills, he should blossom into a solid cover corner in the NFL if he can iron out some wrinkles in his game. He has the speed, size, and quickness to be successful in the league, but he must become a more disciplined player. With a good showing in post-season workouts and All-Star games, he could be a second or third round possibility.
