Chicago Bears 2008 NFL Draft Needs

Draft Needs of the Chicago Bears

From Andrew Wynne and James Alder, for About.com

Mar 11 2008

Offensive Tackle — The Bears need a franchise offensive tackle who could eventually take over at left tackle and allow John Tait to slide back over to the right side. Whoever plays quarterback and whoever runs needs a solid offensive line. A developmental prospect in the mid-to-late rounds would be nice as well because Tait is no spring chicken himself.

Offensive Guard — The Bears added Josh Beekman last year, but they need to continue to infuse some youth into a unit that has grown old. A young powerful offensive guard to develop for the future could be had in the middle rounds.

Defensive Tackle — A rookie with quickness and the ability to hold the point of attack is needed to add into the defensive tackle rotation.

Quarterback — Another young quarterback should be drafted in case neither Rex Grossman nor Kyle Orton works out.

Wide Receiver — As Booker is a stop gap, a young tall possession receiver must be drafted unless either Rashied Davis or Mike Hass is considered the future answer.

Safety — Another safety needs to be thrown in the mix as Mike Brown cannot seem to stay healthy.

Middle Linebacker — Additional insurance is needed in case Brian Urlacher’s arthritic back continues to act up or he is moved to strong safety.

Running Back — Another running back should be drafted in case Cedric Benson continues to not produce.
